This performance is the culmination of the Listen Up! program and will include original pieces composed collaboratively with composer Chris Thornborrow, librettist Paula Wing, and the children in grades 5, 6, and 7. The pieces will be sung by the newly formed St. Demetrius choir and accompanied by the Gryphon Trio. The performance will also include student poetry recitations, a processional with more than 300 participating students and additional Gryphon Trio selections.

When Listen Up! commenced at St. Demetrius, a Ukrainian school, in early January, we could not have imagined the current situation in Ukraine. Responding without delay, the school has been organizing fundraising and donation drives to support those in need, and has welcomed over 50 children from Ukraine in recent weeks.

While engaged in Listen Up! the students have found solace and distraction from the confusion and challenges that the current situation has brought to their young lives. It is a great honour that Listen Up! has become part of this remarkable and resilient community.
